The certifications tend to be devised by software and hardware vendors to certify support for their particular product. While this is prevelant in Windows development, the Linux world is built on an entirely different model.





Most C/C++ programs in linux are written in gnu gcc or gpp. These are non-commercial applications, and the notion of having some sort of certification program for them would probably cause Richard Stallman (founder of gnu) to cough up a lung. (I've never met anybody _less_ commercial than RMS.)





The way to prove yourself in the gnu/linux world is through experience on open-source projects. Find a project you're interested in and contribute. If you can't code yet, add to documentation or testing. If you can code, find a mentor and work on a smaller bug, then work your way up.





In the open-source community, open source project experience is a far better indicate of talent than artificial certifications developed by self-serving corporate interests.

For C++/C, Download DarkSDK with Visual C++ and test your skills in game developing...cause publishing a game will make you more extreme than any stupid certificate. Mention in your CV that you create your own games in c++ (just for fun), and DAMN!!! Job offers come fast.

Reply:you will have to retake a test in GA to be licensed in that state I'm a RN and from Arkansas but i have to apply for a new license in every state i go to ( i do the traveling nurse) Contact a hospital in GA and they can give you a number to call if they cant help

I don't know about the C++ certification exam, but when I took the A+ certification I think the best help was some practice exams on the web. They will list some questions to give you a feel of the exam. By the way, I took it like 5 years ago, it was still in the past with com ports and a lot of old technology. Another way is just get a A+ book and review it; seems like you should already know most of the technology on the test.

Yes, there is SUN certification for C++, But that is litter bit different from usually C++ and it is called SUN C++, Syntax is little bit change but no problem for user of C++.

You should be learning about the business. Your degrees are great and you have enough technical credentials to get an IT job in a financial services firm. But if you could also impress an employer with business knowledge, that would put you over the top. Passing a Series 7 or 63 exam, getting a CFP designation or classes about brokerage and banking will all help tremendously.

I got it when they first started issuing the tests, but I think they still sponsor the test.

Don't resort to such "courses", you do not need "certification" to be a good programmer.





Instead follow the tutorials online, don't worry about memorizing stuff, as soon as you start getting comfort with c/c++, you will start to memorize the functions you use the most.





There's another reason not to start on long educations involving programming, which is; usually such educations has ridiculous admission demands. I've been turned down myself, and today im happy that i was turned down, because i quickly came to realize, that it wouldent be worth it.

By the point where mathematics holds a bigger part, it wont be a problem to learn what you need, AKA "math.com".. What im saying is, that there are plenty of resourses on the net these days, who wants to waste 2years+ of their life, learning stuff they might not even get to use in practice.





Programmers dont need to be good at english or math, they just need to know how to understand the referances, and how to understand/seak the information they need.

C+ Certification?
You need to pass an independent testing program to get a Certification. You are in a very good school. There are many books and CDs in a downtown bookstore for test preparation. You will learn most of the things at DeVry, but specifically study for each test before taking it.
