I have been told both legal and illegal. I do not know who to believe.
If I have a EPA certification but not a HVAC license is it illegal to work on residential A/C's?
From what I just gathered from the web you have to have an HVAC lisence to work on residential buildings. You couldn't get bonded or insured otherwise.
My brother does this for a living I can call him tomorrow and find out for sure. You can e-mail my 360 if you want to.
Reply:This is controlled in so many ways its actually sad. Where I live i can have a city or a state license..... But even if you have a state license many cities still insist that you have a city permit to do work !!!! Your EPA certification states that you "know how to handle refrigerants" Not necessarily that you are a qualified HARV Tech.... Bottom line it really just depends on where you live. (Ask your city officials).
