Which one of this classes is going to help me become a video game designer or level designer?

1.Intro to computer programming- will learn programming in c++ networking, data analysis and web page design

2. A++ certification-introduce to features, functions, and design of the computer hardware, and provides instruction in the maintenance and repair of computer components/

3.CAD- COmputer aids drafting. learn basic computer drafting principles, techniques, hardware, software and terminology.

Which one of this classes is going to help me become a video game designer or level designer?
c++, definitely. the other stuff is good, but doesn't address your goal.
Reply:Disclaimer: I do not work on games. I write software for pressure sensors. My advice is worth the money you have paid for it ;)

Writing video games has two major components.

1) Game engine - this is raw programming. Here you define the physics of the game, the interaction of the entities, AI and network comms. To do this part you would want the computer programming course.

2) Game play and artwork. This is much more of an artistic job. Here you design the characters, story line, the user interface and game art. To do this, you are looking at computer graphics courses. CAD may be useful for model design (i.e. designing 3D models of game objects). You would also want drawing and image processing skills.

Arguably, this is the more difficult aspect of making a game. It's my completely unsupported opinion that the look and feel of a game is more important than the low level engine (even though I am a programmer). This is where a game succeeds or fails.

The maintenance and repair of hardware is the least useful. Unless you want to work for Geek Squad.
Reply:All of the above and then some....consider taking some art classes too.

You'll probably end up having to take some classes like..philosophy, theology, mythology, interior design, fasion, creative writing. Japanese, Chinese literature, software design...etc
Reply:I would say that any one of those classes could help you become a video game designer or level designer. But number 1 or possibly number 3 would be the best. Those deal with software and 2 deals with hardware, which would prepare you to be a computer repair person. If I wanted to be a video game designer, I would choose number 1. But I would check out number 3 as well.
