Career Selection .net / CISCO?
hello Bedi.hs,

1. my choice would be CISCO. get a more indepth knowledge of cisco's security portion rather than network to keep yourself on the upper edge of the market needs as security will always play a big role in any company.

2. go with C# if you think would like to earn large income in a limited year span as C# is a bit outdated just like foxpro, however, sarced knowledgable programmers are heavily wanted for such positions.

3. VB.NET / JAVA will always be in the open job market and will always be a part of our daily PC experiences, so should you want to invest your time there, then you must factor in that you need continues learning for that you can keep up with the fast changing programming industry.

4. today's market trend is linux/unix as widely has companies decided to cut cost to their overall expense by allocate resources where it's least costy. IBM/HP/Microsoft are all great in providing exceptional services, but it's just too costy for small to mid-size companies.

5. good luck with your decision. hope my suggestions help a bit at your choosing :-)
Reply:c# is on iots way out. start with visual basic then move on to java. although it is irratic in places java is one of the best languages to learn and use.
Reply:i am a software developer working in hyd. following has been my observation about s/w jobs.

1%26gt; look at s/w jobs in a pyramid fashion. the maximum no. of jobs will be for s/w developement as a team of 2 - any no (depending upon the size) would we working for one application. Once this application is deployed at the client end, only few DBA's and system / Network Admins will be required to manage that.

2%26gt; now, in s/w development jobs, amongs all the options that u have provided, i would strongly recommend going for Java / Oracle: SQL, PL/SQL.

3%26gt; bcos, if u have 1-2 yrs of exp in these technology, u will have a bright chance of getting in Oracle ERP, as the future releses are going to be Java and oracle based. and a career in ERP means big bucks !!

4%26gt; also consider this, as a network / secuirty professional, u will have more jobs on-site, where the work envoirnment / salary arnt very attractive. but as a developer, u will have a good envoirnment.
