Java certification question?

I want to get a java certification but am not sure which one. I see from sun's website that the associate certification is the lowest one. Do I have to receive that one first before trying for the programmer certification? I am familiar C/C++ and have done a little java but not that experienced yet.

Java certification question?
You do not need to get the Java Associate certification to get the programmer certification. You could go for the associate certification if you just want to test yourself for some basic knowledge of Java

But if you can go for programmer certification, I would recommend that instead as it shows you understand Java on a deeper level.

In fact, you need the programmer certification if you want to go for the web component developer, mobile application developer, java developer, web services developer, business components developer certifications.

(You may also go for the Sun Certified Enterprise Architect certification without any prerequisites as well.)
Reply:I'd skip over the associate certification and go for the certified java programmer.

Good luck.
